Maintenance

Of course you want to get the most out of your glasses. To enjoy your glasses optimally, it is very important to provide the correct maintenance.
Here are some tips to properly maintain your lenses:

1) Use the Ponsioen Optics cleaning spray. This spray is purely natural and smells nice and fresh.
Spray both sides of the glass and rub dry with a clean (microfiber) cloth, but not if there is still a bit of dirt on the glass. Then the glasses should be rinsed under the cold tap. Has the bottle run out? Then you can refill it for free in the store.

2) The special dry glasses cleaning cloths are of course fine… if they are clean.
However, over time they can get dirty and then they can act like sandpaper.
Wash such a cloth regularly, but never with fabric softener, because that makes it greasy.

3) Special wet glasses wipes should never be used!!!
These wipes are made of paper and this scratches on (plastic) glasses.
Some wet wipes also contain alcohol, which cleans well, but in some cases can cause damage after prolonged use.
Wipes that contain citric acid are also not good, because that acid affects the coating and anti-reflection.

4) The coating is not resistant to prolonged contact with sweat, skin and/or hair. In the long run, this has an acidifying effect and causes faster wear.
The same goes for toiletries such as cream, aftershave or eau de cologne.
If a frame does not fit properly, the lenses can touch the skin with all the consequences that entails.

5) Aggressive substances can also permanently damage your glasses.
Therefore, avoid contact with acetone, ammonia, ether, glue, perfume, hair spray, household cleaners and insecticides.

6) When cleaning, do not only clean your glasses, but also the frame.
Use cold water for this, possibly with green detergent.
Do not use yellow (lemon) or blue detergent, as it contains components that can affect the coating and anti-reflection of the glasses.
Give your sunglasses an extra cleaning just before the winter, or have the glasses cleaned in the ultrasonic. This way, skin acids and fats have no chance to affect your frame and damage it.

7) Do not put your glasses in the car or expose your glasses to extreme temperatures.
During a beautiful summer day, the temperature in the car can rise considerably, which can cause the lenses and frame to deform.
Avoid extreme temperature changes, such as in the sauna or on the plane.
The coating of the lenses consists of several thin layers that all react differently to temperature changes, which means that some layers can crack in extreme circumstances.

8) Also pay attention when opening the convection oven, tumble dryer, dishwasher or when draining the potatoes. The hot steam can affect the coating and anti-glare of the lenses.

9) Pay attention when visiting the beach or boulevard. Don't just polish your glasses with your cloth.
Salt and sand in the air can scratch the lenses. Therefore, first rinse your glasses under the cold tap.

10) Always use your case to store the glasses. Never carry your glasses without a case in a bag or breast pocket. Scratches on the lenses can also cause coating peeling.
